Ep. 1: Cuppy: DJ, producer and radio host | Choose hope over optimism
Known as one of the African continent’s top DJ, Nigerian-born Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola aka Cuppy has been collecting successes as of late. Recently awarded the coveted job of hosting Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio, the producer is set to release her debut album with label Platoon in just a few days while her single Jollof on the Jet has already been an instant hit. Cuppy joined Everyday Ubuntu host Mungi to talk about her professional journey, the obstacles she’s overcome along the way as well as the lessons she’s been imparted with, including through her philanthropic work as Founder of the Cuppy Foundation and ambassador for Save The Children UK which she credits as having helped redefine her life goals. Mirroring the Ubuntu lesson ‘Choose hope over optimism,’ Cuppy discussed the hard work, patience and faith it took to reach this stage of her life. And of course the question of the origin of the best jollof was addressed… you’ll hear Cuppy’s answer at around 04:34!
